As humans, our overall wellbeing is of utmost importance as this can help us feel more positive and enable us to get the most out of life. However, there are some ways to which one can enjoy a better wellbeing of which I would love you to start implementing as from today if you haven't before.
1. Connect: To connect is simply to spend time developing and nurturing healthy relationships with family,friends, neighbors, and colleagues. Connecting will boost your physical, emotional, and mental health. When you connect, there are less chances of feeling lonely or isolated. Here are few things you can try as you take the step to connect with others today:
✓ You can arrange a day out with friends, a day you get to eat, talk, relax and enjoy!
✓ If possible, take time each day to be with your family, it can be at the dinner table after the day's work, just talk about how the day went, etc.
✓Volunteer at a local school, hospital or community group
✓ Hang out with colleagues at work, you can have lunch together or plan a picnic together, etc.
2. Stay active: Engage your body and brain in activities like swimming, walking, jogging, playing football, etc. Make sure it's an activity you enjoy as this can help improve your physical and mental health.
3. Keep learning: Learning should be your everyday lifestyle. Growth is imbedded in learning and when you learn new skills, it makes you feel some sense of achievement and boost your overall confidence. Learning a new skill shouldn't be difficult, you can start easily with
✓ Cooking a new dish by watching YouTube channel and trying it out Or you can apply to a culinary school to learn about making new dishes, this will also help you to connect to more people.
✓ Mentoring a junior colleague at work on how to improve on some basic skills.
✓ Learning a new language or try new hobbies. This will help you enjoy a better well-being.
4. Give: Helping others, saying "thank you", complimenting people's efforts can help you improve your own well-being and enjoy it. These small acts of kindness gives you a sense of purpose and still helps you connect with people.
5. Stay aware: Being aware of your environment, the present moment and the world around you can help you to positively change how you're feeling about life. This awareness is most times refer to as "mindfulness". Mindfulness can help you enjoy life and understand yourself better. It's more like a self reflection.
