It is hard to learn how to not compare oneself with others in this age and time. If you are like this, it's because you haven't come to terms with accepting and valuing yourself. And this article can help you know just how to do that.
1. Give yourself some TLC (tender loving care): Tending to your body and general health does a lot in making you feel better about yourself. If you feel tired, take a nap, if your mind is starting to ache, take some tea and stand in the nature. Not only will these activities make you feel better but it will make you think clearly and improve your mood greatly. This way, there's no room for negative thoughts nor self hate. You get to find it easier to be kind and compassionate to yourself and your health.
2. Challenge your inner critic: There's always that voice at the back of your head that tells you "you can't do it" "you won't find anyone to ask you out on a date" "you can't play tht guitar, don't bother", etc. You need to silent that voice, you need to speak positive affirmations to yourself that you're not what that voice is saying. Challenge your inner critic. Defy it when it tries to convince you that you can’t do this or that… and instead tell yourself you can.
3. Try to discover yourself: You need to know that you're not like others, discover who you are. Try out new things, see the one that works for you, see the ones you enjoy, know what you get along with. You need to be free to think if you want to discover yourself. Develop the habit of questioning yourself and seeing the world with an open mind.
4. Avoid comparing yourself with others: You find it difficult to accept who you are and what you stand for sometimes because you compare yourself to others. Comparison will kill your self confidence and make you feel like you are not doing enough. You need to learn how to not compare yourself with others. The fact that someone is excelling better than you are doesn't mean you won't excel also. Our race are different! You can also do better and become great!
5. Surround yourself with people who support you: Human beings are social species. We only want to have people around us not matter how little and most times we crave for their views on how we live our lives. This isn't a bad thing but what you need to know is that if people opinions matters to you, then keep good people around you. People who will support who you are and what you do & stand for. Hang around people who would rather build you up when you fail instead of dressing you down. This will make it easier for you to embrace your identity and find your self worth.
