One moment you're making a decision and feeling so optimistic about it. Another moment, worry sets in and you're not sure if it's the right decision or if it will work out fine. You see this latter moment is what we call "SELF DOUBT". Self doubt is you experiencing feelings of uncertainty about one or more aspects of your life. Every human has one time in their lives doubted themselves and their abilities which isn't a bad thing but giving in to that doubt is where the problem lies. There will be times when you will doubt yourself but when this time comes, this is what you can do to get past it:

1. Avoid comparison: When you compare yourself with others, you give room to self doubt. You need to know that everyone's life and race is different. The fact that someone is excelling and you are yet to doesn't mean you won't. Instead of comparing yourself to others, you should rather focus on yourself and get better for yourself. This way you stay happy and accomplish all you set your mind to achieve.

2. Find validation from within: While it's great to hear from others that you're doing a good job, you need to also have faith in yourself that you're doing well. When you keep waiting for others to acknowledge your good works, you might lose yourself when they don't do it. However, when you've learned how to encourage and reassure yourself even before others do, that way, you've validated yourself from within. Believe in yourself and practice accepting your strengths and all you have to offer.

3. Surround yourself with supportive people: You need good people around you. Those that will support you and encourage you when you start doubting yourself and your abilities. These set of people will help you do better for yourself and this will also help your mental health.

4. Be skeptical of your thoughts: You should know that you're not your thoughts. Whenever you're down thinking because of self doubt, question that thought if it is helpful, accurate or degrading. Don't give room to negative thoughts, it can consume you more than it should. Give room for positive thinking. Know that you can undo this habit of negative thoughts, it just takes time and commitment.

5. Keep a journal: Journaling is good. It's a therapeutic exercise to practice. Writing down your thoughts of self doubt might be a good release. You may even realize after writing it all down that it's not as detrimental as you thought they were. This way, you can gradually overcome self doubt.
