Setting a goal is quite easy but staying consistent in achieving that set goal is where the bulk of the work lies. Today, the struggle with staying consistent is real especially with the fact that one can get overwhelmed in the process of achieving one's goals and dreams. If you must stay consistent with your goals despite all odds, there are certain things you must bear in mind to do. I remember recently how a friend of mine called me and after we talked for about few minutes, she asked me "how do you stay consistent with blogging despite working?" Truth is, I get this question a lot and due to this I will be sharing few tips that has helped me stay consistent with my goals generally and which you can also implement.
5 TIPS TO STAY CONSISTENT WITH YOUR GOALS
1. Pursue your own goals not a goal set for you by others: One vital question you should ask yourself when you set a goal for yourself is that, "is this actually what I want to do?" "Hope I'm not trying to fulfill a goal set by others?". Knowing this will help you clarify where you stand because there is a high tendency that you will be inconsistent with your goals when it's not fueled by raw passion but rather, shaped and influenced by society standards. To stay consistent with your goals, you need to be assured that that set goal is of your utmost interest, if you're assured of this, consistency will follow suit.
2. Always remember the "WHY?": There's always a reason why you set up a goal and to stay consistent with those goals, you need to always remember "WHY". This will keep you on track, you will know what is done, what's yet to be done and the way forward. This will save you from procrastination. Don't let each day pass without it drawing you closer to achieving your goals. You can also set up a daily calendar that will help you stay committed to your goals. This can also help you survive hard times when you feel like giving up.
3. Surround yourself with positive people: This is one thing I can say that has kept me going. Having people who encourages and supports you is a great booster. Positivity births positivity. When you have positive people around you, you are able to tap into their positive vibes and energy. This positivity around you will supply you with the energy you need to stay consistent and motivated with your goals. Getting rid of "negative vibes and energy" is a must in staying consistent with your goals.
4. Place reminders everywhere possible: This is a habit I've cultivated overtime. It has really helped me and you can implement it also. I set alarms for all i have to do daily even for my normal chores. This way i get to remember what I have to do, without missing it. Sometimes, I even set reminders on my calendar in order not to miss out my future plans and appointments. It's quite easy to forget new goals, commitments, promises, but one thing that can help you is to set reminders everywhere, especially in visible areas. You can write reminders on your sticky notes and paste it on your walls, refrigerator, computer, dashboard, etc. You can also set alarms or download any reminder app to keep you alert. Setting reminders helps you stay consistent with your goals and dreams.
5. Don't lose sight of the "bigger picture": Not losing sight of the bigger picture is equal to not being distracted. Distractions is one of the inevitable things one will face in the process of achieving one's goal. It only takes an individual who hasn't loss sight of the bigger picture to stay consistent. You need to constantly remind yourself of the end point of your set goal in order to stay consistent, unwavering and focused.
Final words
Consistency and discipline work hand in hand, as much as you stay consistent, stay disciplined. Make it your mission today to be consistent, know that your goals and dreams are way bigger than the challenges you might face while trying to achieve them. So, stay consistent! It will yield great results.
